There are items that will need to be replaced that don't fit into the instrument category. Most common among these items are concert and marching uniforms. As a program grows, so will the need to increase the uniform inventory and as uniforms age, they will need to be replaced. Marching uniforms tend to get the most wear and tear and are usually replaced every 8-9 years. This is an item that needs to appear in the 5 Year Plan every year up to the time of purchase. This is a major expense and the board will need to set aside money each year to accommodate this purchase when it arises.
When planning uniform purchases and other large capital outlay purchases, try to schedule them many years apart so as not to overburden the district budget all at once. Careful planning will get you all of the resources you need.
Other miscellaneous items might include platform risers for your band, replacement cases for instruments, and marimba bar replacements, repair or tuning.
